The Research Foundation of SUNY, a private, not-for-profit organization managing sponsored program activity for the University at Albany, seeks applicants for the position of Human Resources Coordinator.  Reporting to the CNSE Assistant Vice President for Operations, the successful applicant will be responsible for administering and/or implementing human resources policies, programs and practices for all location specific personnel. 

Description of Duties:

  • Implement an effective recruitment program, including development of recruitment resources and provide oversight to the recruitment process to ensure compliance with relevant Research Foundation and University policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Research Foundation and University policies and procedures.  Ensure compliance with state and federal statutes including FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and AAP.  Develop practices, operating policies and orientation and training activities for the CNSE based employees to support these requirements.
  • Develop and conduct employee orientation and training programs.  Identify and coordinate training opportunities for staff; make recommendations to managers for training opportunities available.
  • Conduct job analysis; write and revise job descriptions; ensure compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Administer performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within the organization.
  • Administers salary program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.  Conduct wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
  • Assist with employee counseling and disciplinary processes.  Coach and counsel managers on disciplinary processes and required documentation.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and legal requirements that affect location’s human resources functions in order to ensure compliance.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding Research Foundation and University policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Supervise CNSE Human Resources staff and Site Administrative Assistants.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field from a college or university accredited by US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization; a minimum of seven years progressively responsible human resources experience; demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration; demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office; excellent oral and written communication skills; applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications:

SHRM Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR); experience in a research-intensive university environment.
