Employment is with the Research Foundation of SUNY, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for the University at Albany.

Description of Duties:

The State University of New York Center for International Development (www.cid.suny.edu) is recruiting accountant/fiscal administrators to manage donor-funded contract and financial tracking for democracy projects. 

Duties:

§         Review field office accounting and receipts for accuracy, completeness, and allowability;   obtain needed corrective actions; prepare spreadsheet to convert foreign currency to US$

§         Provide training and mentoring of overseas field staff on financial and administrative management issues, regulations and grant management

§         Research, interpret, and apply federal and SUNY regulations 

§         Prepare paperwork for payment requests, agreements, wire transfers, travel payments, contracts

§         Make travel/contract/insurance arrangements for participants, staff, consultants

§         Prepare specialized financial reports as required by sponsors

§         Prepare and/or oversee budgetary and financial materials required for the submission of bids and proposals

§         Monitor all matters pertaining to changes in federal procurement policies and practices

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
  • BA/BS, Strong knowledge of accounting, business, bookkeeping or financial management
  • Ability to monitor, interpret, and comply with federal and contract requirements
  • At least 5 years experience in accounting and/or hands-on financial positions
  • Fluency in English is essential
  • U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory
  • Ability to work in Teams

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of contract administration
  • Fluency in other languages, esp. Spanish, Arabic, or French
  • Willingness to travel
  • Demonstrated success in developing budgets,
  • Experience with USAID, UN, or similar donor agency projects; overseas living experience
  • Experience with not for profit organizations
