Employment
is with the Research Foundation of SUNY, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation
that administers sponsored program activity for the University at Description
of Duties: This Senior Research
Support Specialist duties will include, but not be limited to: working on the
ENCODE project and be an RNA genomics researcher responsible for developing
and utilizing the RIP-Chip technology, developing a Nanoimmuno-based
wafer, training students and other technicians and screening Millipore
Antibodies for use in RIP-Chip assays.
This person will oversee the running of the Tenenbaum lab and help
with ordering supplies and consumables for the lab, shipping materials to
collaborators and helping to manage the lab.
The candidate will also be expected to regularly review the scientific
literature and write manuscripts and grants. Minimum Qualifications: A
Master’s degree in a science related field from a college or university
accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized
accrediting organization; AND a minimum of two years of experience with molecular
biology research; AND one year of Nanobioscience
research experience. Candidate must
have firm knowledge of post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms,
particularly RNA binding proteins, their recognition motifs and miRNA research; experience with DNA, RNA and RNA-binding
proteins; experience with PCR, Western Blotting, and other general molecular
biology techniques; general understanding of Microarray and sequencing
technologies and genomics; basic knowledge of statistics; general aptitude
for biology and natural sciences; must be able to effectively communicate
orally and in written form; must have experience reading and writing
scientific literature; candidates must be able to address in their
applications there ability to work with culturally diverse populations. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in a science
