Description of Duties:

The School of Public Health at the University at Albany, NY seeks qualified applicants for a two-year full-time postdoctoral position to work on an NIH-funded project to develop, implement and evaluate a family-centered obesity prevention program using Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR).  The successful candidate will be jointly mentored by Dr. Kirsten Davison (family health, childhood obesity) and Dr. Janine Jurkowski (CBPR, health disparities).  The successful candidate will work with the research team to design and implement the intervention, coordinate evaluation activities (including process and impact evaluations), supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate research assistants, and coordinate technical data collection activities (e.g., accelerometer-assessed physical activity).  The candidate will also be responsible for data management and participate in data analysis.  Opportunities for mentored manuscript preparation are available.  Additional opportunities for teaching and graduate training in public health (e.g., a certificate in public health or health disparities) are also available for interested candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have received a doctoral degree in the last three years in public health, child and family development, psychology, exercise science or a related field and have strong written and data analytic skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous research experience and/or training in obesity, child and family health, qualitative research methods, or community-based participatory research are preferred but not required.
