Q. Why aren't we allowed to post an SL-3 position concurrently as a promotional and a public posting?
A. The University at Albany is interested in providing promotional opportunities for its professional employees. The University at Albany needs not only to attract, but also retain a strong professional work force to insure the efficient pursuit of its program goals and objectives. A fair system of of internal promotion aids in the achievement of those goals and also recognizes and regards the commitments and talents of the persons whom it employs. Therefore, the University has entered into a local agreement with United University Professions (UUP), to post all professional UUP-represented positions at the level of SL-3 and above, for ten business days before posting the position publicly. For details concerning the University's Promotion Policy for Professional Employees, please see HR Memorandum 88-4
