Faculty and Professional Recruitment Help
How to Start the Search Process
1. To initiate a fulltime faculty or professional search, the department must complete a Search Packet, consisting of the following forms:
Position Authorization Request HRM-1
Affirmative Action Recruitment Plan
Complete Job Description (professional positions
only)
Announcement of Vacancy UP-5
2. Once this package is completed, it should be forwarded to the appropriate supervisor and VP for approval. The VP’s office, upon approval, submits the search packet to the Budget Office for review to assure the position is consistent with the financial plan.
3. The Budget Office then forwards the approved Search Packet to
Human Resources. Human Resource will share the
recruitment plan with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) for approval. Human Resources
will review the position classification, salary, and job description. (HR will also ask the hiring department to provide an electronic version of the UP-5).
4. Once HR has received completed its review and has ODI's approval to proceed with the search, we will post the position on our vacancy page
through Interview Exchange and forward the hyperlink to the NYS Department of Labor and other SUNY Campuses.
Note: international searches require at least one print ad
to comply with current labor certification regulations.
5. HR will notify the department when the vacancy announcement has been posted, and will provide the hyperlink to use in advertisements.
