Downloading Files

Updated June 12, 1998: Instructions for Norton AntiVirus users have been added.

To download a file, click the link for the file you'd like to download. If you are using Netscape Navigator 3.01 or lower, you will see a window that looks like the following.

Netscape Download prompt

Click the Save File button. (If you've clicked on the wrong file, click the Cancel button.) At this point, you will be asked to select the directory where you'd like this file to reside on your computer. (You have the option to change the filename. It's best not to do this, though if you already have a file by the same name in the directory you've selected, go ahead and change it---simply make sure the file ends with .doc if it's a Microsoft Word file, .xls if it's a Microsoft Excel file, or .exe if it is an executable file, such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader installation program.) Once you've clicked the OK button, Netscape Navigator will download the file. If it is a form, you can then open the file in Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel, depending on what type of file it is. At that point, you can print the form.

If you are using Norton AntiVirus software, the file will be checked before it is saved. Note that the Norton AntiVirus window may not appear in front of the other programs you are currently running. If you are using Windows95, look for Norton AntiVirus on the Taskbar and click on it. (If you are using Windows 3.11, ALT-TAB to Norton AntiVirus.) Then save the file to the appropriate directory.
