Description of Duties: The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the procurement of supplies, commodities, equipment, and services. Additionally the incumbent will be responsible for writing, negotiating, processing and defending all written agreements including quotes, bids, RFI, RFP, and contracts. The incumbent will be responsible for educating and advising staff on procedures and policies relative to Research Foundation and NYS procurement. The incumbent will be expected to develop familiarity with products and services relevant to the University's activities and serve as liaison to resolve problems related to goods and services acquired through the Office of Purchasing and Contracts. Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. 3 years professional experience as a buyer, preferably in an educational or industrial research and development setting, Demonstrated analytical and decision making skills while working both independently and as a team member in a fast paced and challenging environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word software. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity and experience with NYS, SUNY, and Research Foundation procurement practices. Proficiency in Oracle. |
