Description of Duties:

The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University at Albany, a twenty-four hour, seven-day a week facility, is seeking applicants for the position of Technician. The positions will provide Facility Services, leadership and expertise for the development and implementation of facility operations.

Job responsibilities include: Technical support in areas including HVAC, electrical, Waste water treatment, and Mechanical operations, and maintenance of related systems supporting cleanroom and office operations; preventive maintenance; lock-out tag-out protocol; inventory and facility operating system document control; monitoring and responding to all facility reporting alarms & controls; system balancing; operation and maintenance of boilers, chillers, compressors, pumps, and fire protection systems; understanding all related disciplines such as process, waste and water treatment, automation, CAD, architectural; knowledge and experience in applying/interpreting UBC/UFC/NFPA/OSHA specifications and codes; customer satisfaction and support; conducting work in an independent manner; the ability to earn and maintain membership and certification in the Emergency Response Team; off shift coverage; good communications skills and proficient use of Microsoft Office and Maintenance Management programs.

 


Minimum Qualifications:

A professional technical certifications and a technical engineering trade degree with 5 years of work experience in facilities mechanical systems. Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population. Must have experience managing multiple assignments.

Preferred Qualifications:

10 years of work experience in facilities mechanical systems, or experience supporting cleanroom facilities.
