Employment is with the Research Foundation of SUNY, a private, not-for-profit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for the University at Albany.
The Center for International Development (CID) seeks the full-time services of a Senior Legislative Technical Specialist (SLTS) for a USAID-funded project to assist the parliament of Afghanistan in its development. The SLTS will live in Kabul and will provide technical assistance in legislative development. The SLTS will participate in conferences, meetings and study trips as a representative of the project and CID. The SLTS will interact with various constituencies including parliamentary leaders and staff, officials of USAID, other donors, and CSOs. The SLTS will also perform other duties that may come about given programmatic demands.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree. Political acumen and cultural sensitivity. Proficiency in English. Excellent communication skills (e-mail, telephone, reports, public speaking). Excellent team building skills. Knowledge of USAID and other types of multi- and bilateral donor rules and regulations. Experience working in a legislative body. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the implementation of legislative strengthening programs, especially in Muslim nations. Experience in Afghanistan, nearby countries, transitional democracies, post conflict countries, and/or other hardship/danger posts. Proficiency in Afghan languages. |
