FUNCTION & SCOPE: The Research Foundation of SUNY, a private, not-for-profit
organization managing sponsored program activity for the University at
Albany, seeks applicants for the position of Technical Programs Business
Manager reporting to the Executive Director of the Center of Sustainable EcoSystem Nanotechnologies. DESCRIPTION of This position will
be responsible for providing the day-to-day coordination of the Center’s
activities, including, but not limited to: identifying and creating programs
at the state, federal and international level that can provide sources of
financial support; following up and maintaining contact with current and
prospective members of the center, both nationally and internationally;
assisting in the preparation and delivery of proposals for projects that
provide financial support; technical financial support of sponsored awards
programs; providing communications on
center mission, vision and activities
to outside organizations; organizing and coordinating symposia and other
public events to foster awareness;
creating and preparing presentations for external audiences; preparing
reports and other forms of communications that provide feedback to
stakeholders and foster excellent stakeholder relations; representing the
Executive Director to stakeholders and
organizations as required. Implementation of the
Center’s priorities will require working in a team environment with faculty
and staff supporting the initiation, development and on-going partnership
relations for projects and programs with critical stakeholders, including
corporate partners, national laboratories, government and economic
development agencies, faculty and students. The position works closely with
the faculty and staff within CNSE to ensure the CSEN activities and plans are
managed and implemented in a coordinated fashion. The successful candidate will play an enabling role in identifying,
developing and maintaining business development initiatives for targeted
industry applications, emerging technology drivers and evolving deployment
platforms for use in sustainable systems.
Emphasis is on implementation of multi-discipline, multi-dimensional
programs targeting sustainable ecosystem applications. Candidates must
address their ability to work with culturally diverse populations in their
application materials. The successful candidate must have bachelor’s
degree in business, economics or technical degree from a college or
university accredited by a USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting
organization; excellent analytical and communication skills; must have
experience in establishing partnerships and management of business
relationships; a working knowledge of
word-processing, spreadsheet and database applications (Word, PowerPoint,
Excel, and Access), a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience. The ideal candidate would be self directed, highly
creative, and have experience in managing multiple assignments and ensuring
the efficient and effective use of resources. The successful candidate will
have strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, as well as
demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people across
multiple disciplines. A key piece of this job is marketing, and the ideal
candidate should be able to create basic documents and have knowledge of
publishing software and html.
