QUALIFICATIONS

The New York State Writers Institute and the interdisciplinary Documentary Studies Program at the University at Albany, State University of New York, seek applicants for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professorship in new media production and editing. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced courses (both graduate and undergraduate) in digital media production (audio, video, and graphics), documentary digital filmmaking, web-publishing/webcasting, and courses in the candidate's area of specialization. The successful candidate will be joining two exciting and growing units at the University at Albany:  The NY State Writers Institute (Web site: http://www.albany.edu/writers-inst/) and the Documentary Studies Program (Web site:  http://www.albany.edu/history/docstudies).

Candidates should possess advanced or doctoral degrees in an appropriate discipline, although substantial professional experience and evidence of creative achievements in digital media and film production may substitute for an advanced degree. All degrees must be from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. The ideal candidate should have mastery of digital graphics, audio, and video production -- including camera, sound and lighting expertise; extensive digital media editing experience; and proven interviewing and narrative writing skills. Applications should include a letter discussing research, project, and teaching interests, a CV or resume, evidence of teaching experience (including evaluations), and three letters of recommendation. Please include sample work with your application; additional materials may be requested after a preliminary review.
