Open Faculty Position – Tenure
Track Opportunities
are available for individuals with expertise in the areas of formulation,
study, and analysis of the economic and business principles underlying the
development and deployment of high technology, with emphasis on nanoscale
know-how, products, and systems. Successful candidates’ are expected to have
or establish, as appropriate to their experience and rank, externally funded
research programs in the broad area of the economics and business of
technology, with emphasis on nanotechnology. The CNSE
NanoEconomics Constellation is a “think tank” of scholarly excellence in
research and education that is designed to catalyze and encourage
cross-disciplinary innovation and pedagogy, as driven by the fundamental
intellectual underpinnings of nanotechnology. The |
Candidates
must have a Ph.D.(before their start date) in a relevant field of business or
economics from a college or university accredited by a USDOE or
internationally recognized accrediting organization, strong publication
record and demonstration of solid applied research. Applicants must address
in their applications their abilities to work with and instruct a culturally
diverse population. Joint appointments in the other CNSE constellations are
possible and highly encouraged where appropriate. All candidates are asked to
submit a list of publications related to their research activities. Preferred
candidates for assistant professor appointments should have completed their
Ph.D. and show promise as independent, extramurally funded investigators.
Preferred candidates for associate and full professor level appointments must
have established records of publication and extramural research support. As part
of its portfolio, the CNSE NanoEconomics Constellation is currently
developing graduate (doctoral and Masters) degrees in NanoEconomics that will
mesh economics and business with Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, requiring a
strong interdisciplinary command of the languages and concepts involved in
all these areas. The degrees will provide graduates the tool-kit necessary
for success in the academic, corporate, and public policy arenas – including
the ability to analyze macroeconomic and industry market conditions, and
provide insight into legal and ethical matters. The
UAlbany CNSE is the first college in the world dedicated to research,
development, education, and deployment in the emerging disciplines of
Nanoscience, Nanoengineering, NanoBioscience and NanoEconomics. In May 2007,
it was ranked as the world’s number one college for nanotechnology and
microtechnology in the Annual College Ranking by Small Times magazine. CNSE’s
Albany NanoTech complex is the most advanced research facility of its kind at
any university in the world: a $4.2 billion, 450,000-square-foot complex that
attracts corporate partners from around the world and offers students a
one-of-a-kind academic experience. |
