Brief description of duties:

The Center for Technology in Government (CTG), an applied research center at the University at Albany, SUNY, is seeking a qualified individual to join the Center as a Program Assistant.  CTG works on a variety of projects related to information strategy and management in the public sector.  The Center has created a unique methodology for exploring information policy, management, and technology issues in the public sector.  The Program Assistant is directly engaged in sponsored research or problem-solving projects, and is appointed for a specified term.  This is an entry-level position at the Center.  The Program Assistant may be assigned to multiple project teams and assists with basic project development and administration as assigned by a Program Associate, Sr. Program Associate or Program Manager.  The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting in project definition and planning, project administrative duties as assigned, assisting in work plan development, assisting in design and execution of group facilitation activities related to projects, conducting assigned data collection, research, analysis, writing, and presentation tasks and assisting in related assignments which further the broad objectives of the Center.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree required.  One year of work experience within a not-for-profit or public sector organization or a private sector organization that works with public sector clients.  Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to multiple assignments and priorities.  Strong organizational and time management skills, oral and written communication skills and interpersonal and relationship building skills.  General understanding of administrative processes in an office setting.  Experience working in a culturally diverse environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  Graduate degree in related field of study strongly preferred.  Three or more years of work experience within a not-for-profit or public sector organization or a private sector organization that works with public sector clients.  Working knowledge of government operations and services.  Working knowledge of information and information technology issues in the public sector.
