Brief description of duties:
|
- Configuration, installation and maintenance of
UNIX production servers.
- Installation, upgrades, patching of layered
product software – in particular WebCT and DHCP.
- Systems Security.
- Disaster Recovery Strategies – design,
implementation, testing and review.
- Cross Platform (UNIX, Windows, AIX, Linux)
duties.
- Provide second tier technical support to first
tier customer support groups throughout various campus groups, Technical
Coordinators and in particular to the Client Support Services Group of
Information Technology Services.
- Occasional travel (to seminars, conference,
off campus working sessions, etc.)

Qualifications:
|
|
Required: (The
required qualifications must be substantiated during the interview process.)
- Applicants must demonstrate in their
application their ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
- A Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science
or related technical field; degree must be from a college or university
accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally
recognized accrediting organization.
- A minimum of 1 year experience as a UNIX
systems administrator in a production environment.
- At least 1 year experience in supporting both
end users and technical staff in their use of UNIX services.
- A demonstrated ability to plan, organize,
document and successfully complete prioritized goals working
independently as well as in a team environment.
- Highly effective oral and written
communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer troubleshooting and
problem analysis capabilities.
Preferred: (The preferred qualifications must be substantiated during the
interview process.)
- Experience administering WebCT and/or other
course management applications.
- Experience administering DHCP.
- Experience with Solaris, Linux, AIX, DNS,
LDAP, BIND, Apache, WebLogic, Oracle databases, MySQL, CGI, Kerberos,
security tools.
- Experience with TCP/IP, NFS, AFS.
- Programming skills in C, Perl, PHP, Bash shell, Tcl, others.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 2003 server
software, Active Directory services, and Microsoft Server 2003 group
policies.
