Television
Producer/Director - The University at Albany is seeking a highly motivated and
experienced television Producer/Director to head the University’s television
facility. This position will create news and entertainment programming for
the University’s website and two student television channels dedicated to
showcasing life on the UAlbany campus. The position will also be responsible
for producing and directing institutional marketing videos and television
commercials as well as academic productions such as educational and training
projects. The position will manage the television facility and supervise a
three-person staff including a videographer/editor, production assistant and
staff assistant and work with and supervise college students in accomplishing
productions. The producer/director will work closely with other members of
the Office of Media and Marketing including writers, marketing/advertising
staff, art director and photographer and serve as the liaison to other
university administrators and faculty in creating programming. This is a
tremendous opportunity for a seasoned news/entertainment video producer to
build the University’s television/video production capacity as well as the
programming of a youth-oriented television station. Person must excel in a
dynamic, fast-paced and goal-driven environment. This position reports to the
Vice President for Media and Marketing. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and execute plans to update
television studio into a state of the art facility. Develop innovative
programming for both web and television broadcasting. Manage television
production budget and produce long-range plan for building production
facility. Identify, cultivate, and coordinate relationships with academic
units to establish student internships and provide a source of programming
for University television. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Writing, producing and directing programs
in studio and on location. Work as part of a collaborative team to develop a
program identity for the university television station. Other projects and
duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
|
|
The University at Albany seeks a seasoned television
news/documentary producer /director with at least a Bachelor’s degree from a
college or university accredited by a US Department of Education or
internationally recognized organization, and 5-7 years of broadcast news or
documentary production experience. The candidate should possess demonstrable
skills in the following areas: news program development, script writing,
videography, and multi-camera directing. Must have solid working knowledge of
non-linear editing systems including AVID and Final Cut pro. The successful
candidate will have experience producing programs in studio and on location
and possess a strong commitment to quality and the creation of innovative
