Brief description of duties:
The University at Albany is searching for a qualified applicant to fill the role of assistant director for athletic media relations. This position’s duties include, but are not limited to, overseeing athletics Web site development and maintenance, publication design and coordination, and assisting in the publicity and promotion of the University’s 19 intercollegiate sports. UAlbany is a NCAA Division I institution that competes in the America East Conference. Football is a member of the Northeast Conference.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field coupled with a minimum two years experience in a Division I athletic media relations capacity. Degree must be from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education (DOE) or internationally recognized accrediting organization. Strong organizational and writing skills with expertise and demonstrated ability of Web site design, computers, statistical software packages, desktop publishing (PageMaker 6.5 and Adobe InDesign), image acquisition and editing (Photoshop) is required. Stat Crew game experience, especially in the sports of football, basketball, lacrosse, baseball and volleyball, is preferred.
