|
Reporting
to the Director of International Students and Scholar Services, the
Administrative Coordinator is a full-time 12 month position with full
benefits. Duties include: responding to questions from incoming international
students about traveling to the U.S. and settling in; counseling continuing
students about routine academic and visa matters, ensuring that they complete
appropriate application forms, and scheduling appointments with the ISSS
advisor and director for complex questions; maintaining student files and
records in SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System); assisting
in the organization of orientation program, workshops and events; organizing
mass mailings; managing the listserv and sending regular
newsletters/announcements to international students with information on
regulatory changes, application deadlines, events on campus and in Albany,
etc.; and drafting/editing print materials. |

Qualifications: |
|||||
|
The position requires a
Bachelor’s degree. The Bachelor’s
degree must be from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department
of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. The
candidate should have at least one year’s office experience working with
adult students and the general public; skills in organizing and managing data
and files for reporting and record-keeping compliance; proficiency with
Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to handle multiple tasks and to complete
work in an orderly and timely fashion; and excellent oral and written
communication skills. Preferred qualifications include prior experience
working with international students, faculty or scholars; knowledge of and
experience with SEVIS and PeopleSoft; work experience in higher education;
and cross-cultural experience through study or employment abroad, and/or
through working with people in multicultural settings. Applicants must address in their
