Brief description of duties:

The Office of Facilities Management at the University at Albany is searching to fill, on a temporary basis, (5 months), one (1) campus planning project manager position.  The University is implementing its five year capital plan and requires a person of the appropriate skill and background, (as described below), to supplement its planning team. This position is available in the Campus Planning Unit (largely responsible for space/scenario master planning, building programming, and historical/campus preservation)   This unit reports to the Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and actively coordinates with other Facilities Maintenance and Operations Units.

Much of the program, planning, design, and construction administration work is outsourced; and thus the successful candidate will be responsible for not only broad knowledge in his/her area, but also for the procurement and administration of outside architecture and engineering firms as well as other professional services.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for the position requires a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization AND a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in an architectural firm performing similar project planning and management work. All positions require computer literacy, including AUTOCAD version 2007 or higher, demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.  The candidate must also address in their application their ability to work with a culturally diverse population.  Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in an architectural discipline and for similar work experience in a large college or university setting.
